FBI in Florida. 27 DEC 2005 Lakeland
We found the Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece at The University of South Florida, Lakeland.
The School was closed and the entire campus was more or less devoid of humanity but for a lone jogger who did not seem annoyed to be stopped in mid stride by Mrs Monk. Her sweatshirt was emblazoned by some FBI college motif that suggested that she was in training for a mission in the manner of Jodie Foster in Hannibal. I started to think about SMERSH training camps and The Prisoner.
But this was the highlight of the trip because we discovered Spanish Moss on the many Cyprus Trees that adorned the campus alongside the abundant orange trees.
The anecdote about FLW that is connected to this place is that a Dean of the College complained about water leaking through the roof and onto his desk. FLW did not consider it his job to be concerned about such matters and simply told the man to move the desk. FLW was a short man and notoriously adopted low ceilings, both here and at his Falling Water masterpiece in Pennsylvania. The concrete covered walkways that are seen here are dangerously low if you are of basket-ball-playing-height. I am kindly disposed to them aesthetically but mind your head. See the pics.
